Aims & Scope
Eracle Journal of Sport and Social Sciences is a peer-reviewed scientific journal indexed on ERIH PLUS. One issue is now published each year. The main purpose of Eracle is to disseminate research and scholarship on sport to the international academic community. The aim of Eracle is to stimulate and communicate research, critical thinking and theory development on topics in the sociology of sport. The journal publishes peer-reviewed empirical and theoretical papers, book reviews and critical essays, research articles of varying length, from standard research papers to shorter reports and commentaries, as well as monographs and media reports. Eracle is not limited to one theoretical or methodological perspective and brings together contributions from anthropology, cultural studies, geography, gender studies, media studies, history, political economy, semiotics, sociology and interdisciplinary research. As sport is a truly global phenomenon, Eracle places great emphasis on publishing articles from all regions of the world, thus promoting international communication among scholars. Articles that address sport and physical culture in the context of race, class, gender, sexuality, popular media, political economy, globalisation, technology, and youth culture are especially welcome. With an international, interdisciplinary perspective, Eracle explores the most pressing and far-reaching issues in sport today, including: World Cup football, gay experience and sport, social issues in sports management, youth sports, sports subcultures. Analyses of sport and physical culture from a variety of theoretical and methodological perspectives are encouraged. Articles that address sport and physical culture in the context of race, class, gender, sexuality, popular media, political economy, globalisation, technology, and youth culture are especially welcome.
